Glassworkers in Bida make beads from glass that has already been something else, bottles, windscreens, broken vessels, ground down, coloured and worked over a furnace. Colour comes from what went into the batch, so a run of beads carries the tint of its source and cannot be repeated exactly. Held up to light they are never quite uniform, and that is the point.
